Monthly Meeting – December 2019

Thanks to everyone who braved the chilly temps to attend the last meeting of 2019.  Bonus surprise of the night: Baklava!

We welcomed a new member this month: Keith Parmentier!  Keith found us at the Livonia Library build day.  It’s great to have you!  Keith had just signed up when we pulled the winner of the Nankin Gift Certificate.  And he was our winner!

Have you seen the issue of “Great Scale Modeling 2019?”  It features works from lots of the bigger shows of the year.  It featured work from three of our members: Ian Dow, Tim Howell, and Albert Divetta!  Congrats, guys!

The theme for our December meeting was “Vietnam Night.”  Members displayed Vietnam-era models and subject matter.

The highlight of the evening was a slideshow presentation by our own Bill Pelton.  Bill is a Vietnam veteran, and he shared some of his stories of the experiences he had as a young draftee.  Bill has built several models that illustrate some of his experiences, including one of his sergeant standing in a makeshift bathtub.   Bill has made some friends for life from his Vietnam experience, and he shared some pictures of his friends, too.  Thank you, Bill, for being so open about that part of your life.

Models on the table tonight came from Bill, Alex, Erik, and Jerry.
